YEAR IN REVIEW: SEPTEMBER – Coast guard medevac unresponsive 5-year-old from ferry

A five-year-old lad was been transferred and admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC), after quick action from the Guyana Defence Force’s (GDF) Coast Guard expedited his access to medical attention.
According to the GDF, five-year-old Marian Santiago was travelling to Mabaruma from Georgetown aboard the MV Lady Northcote, when he reportedly complained of feeling unwell at about midday on the day in question. As his condition began to deteriorate, his parents sought help from the Northcote crew.
